Too Cold For Tortoises
It's too cold out for tropical tortoises! Cold temperatures can be deadly for reptiles who aren't native to areas that experience freezing.
The Galapagos tortoises have a snug shelter with heat lamps and hay for them to burrow into for warmth. Zoo staff is careful to make sure they're trained to seek out the heat before nights get cold, and that they're tucked safely inside when the forecast is too nippy.
