Shifting Sands is a long, sloping exhibit featuring Dama Gazelle, Arabian Oryx, Addax, and African Spur-Thigh Tortoises. The sprawling space is broken up with terraces, brush, logs and rocks to create both variations in terrain for exersize and enrichment and for visual barriers to minimize stress. The substrate is deep enough to allow natural burrows to be dug by the tortoises for temperature and moisture regulation. Spacious yards off exhibit allows the animals to be seperated from guests and from each other for quarantine, health or social reasons.
